Electrical work in England and Wales sits under Part P of the Building Regulations, and notifiable work must be certified and notified — either through your competent person scheme or through building control. Those certificates come from your scheme, and BS 7671 model forms are the only correct format for an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate or an EICR. Do not use a downloaded Word file for any of those, and be sceptical of any site that offers one.

What electricians actually retype every week is everything that surrounds the certificate, and that is what you will find here. Remedial recommendation sheets that translate a C1, C2 or C3 code into a plain-English explanation and a price the customer can say yes to. Customer hand-over notes explaining what was installed, where the isolation points are and what the next inspection date should be. Notification records confirming the job was registered with your scheme and when the customer should expect their building regulations compliance certificate. Pre-work survey notes for consumer unit changes, where finding the existing earthing arrangement and bonding before you quote is the difference between a profitable day and a loss.

The remedial documents earn their place fastest. An EICR that comes back Unsatisfactory generates work, but only if the customer understands what a C2 actually means for them. A one-page explanation with photographs and a fixed price converts far better than a coded schedule handed over without comment.
