The gap between finishing a job and getting paid for it is usually filled with paperwork nobody wrote at the time. Six weeks later the customer remembers a second radiator being included, or insists the extra day's labour was never agreed, and there is nothing on file except your word against theirs. On-site documents exist to close that gap while you are still standing in the property.

A completion certificate is the simplest and most valuable of the set. It states the job is finished, describes what was carried out, notes anything outstanding or deliberately excluded, and carries the customer's signature and the date. It is not a legal instrument in the way a Gas Safe or electrical certificate is, but it is powerful evidence, and it changes the tone of the payment conversation entirely. A signed completion sheet turns 'I'll pay when I'm happy' into a documented moment where the customer said they were happy.

Job sheets do the same work during the job rather than at the end. Time on site, materials used, variations agreed, access problems, anything you found that was not in the original scope. Engineers who record variations on the day get paid for them. Engineers who mention them at invoice stage argue about them.

These templates are deliberately plain: fields, boxes, a signature line, room to write. They print cleanly on A4 and work on a clipboard in a loft as well as they do on a tablet. Fill in your business details once, run off a stack, and keep them in the van.
