Drainage work is documentation-heavy for two reasons. The customer cannot see what you are describing, so the report has to do the persuading; and the work itself carries serious safety obligations that need recording before anybody lifts a cover.
The survey documents come first. A CCTV drain survey is worthless to the customer as raw footage — what sells the repair, and what a homebuyer's solicitor or an insurer will actually read, is a structured report: the run surveyed, access points, the defects found with their location in metres from the chamber, a severity assessment, photographs or stills, and a clear recommendation with a price. Drainage insurance claims and pre-purchase reports are routinely rejected or queried because the report was a video file and a phone call. A proper written report gets the claim paid.
The condition record templates cover routine maintenance visits, jetting records for commercial customers on a service contract, and root ingress or collapse notes where the recommendation is excavation rather than lining.
The safety paperwork is not optional. Many drainage chambers and pumping stations are confined spaces under the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, where entry requires a safe system of work, and hydrogen sulphide and oxygen deficiency are genuine and fast-acting hazards. There is also a real biological exposure risk from wastewater, including leptospirosis. The pre-entry check and permit templates here prompt the assessment, the atmospheric testing, the rescue arrangements and the sign-off. If your safe system of work is 'we've always done it this way', these documents are the cheapest improvement available to you.
